Method: Adopting The Emotional Intelligence Scale and General Self-efficacy Scale,we utilized convenience and cluster sampling methods to survey 724 nursing students from four universities in Sichuan,China.
Results: The mean emotional intelligence score of nursing students in Sichuan was (3.58±0.38) points, and the mean score of general self-efficacy scores was(2.35±0.48) points.One-way analysis of variance and t-test indicated that significant variances existed in scores of emotional intelligence and demographical characteristics such as education background, average family income and reasons for choosingnursing(p<0.05);significant variances existed in scores of general self-efficacy and demographical characteristics such as gender and education background (p<0.05). Pearson product-moment correlation showed that there were positive correlation between general self-efficacy and emotional intelligence (r=0.442, p<0.01); Multiple stepwise linear regression analysis showed that the emotional intelligence, emotional regulation and gender of nursing students had the prediction effect on general self-efficacy, which could explain 21.5% of the variation. Conclusion: Emotional intelligence and self-efficacy of nursing students are in middle level, which remains to be further improved. The better self-efficacy,the higher emotional intelligence levels. All in all, improving the level of self-efficacy of nursing students can help to promoting their emotional intelligence level.
