Title : Change in the perception of student: Comfort and worry in paediatric clinical learning environment
In Pediatric nursing clinical mostly frightening and stressful cause feelings of worry, which hindering students' Learning. This study was done to identify worryprovoking elements before and after pediatric clinical rotations. 64 pediatric nursing students were included. A descriptive, exploratory, quantitative design one group was used to explore student worry . A likert scale with four choices ranging from strongly disagree to strongly agree was used i.e Comfort and Worry Assessment Tool. Pre- and post-test scores were calculated to evaluate changes in worry and comfort. In comparison of pre and post comfort and worry score of student nurses in clinical learning enviornrment depict that comfort level of t(o.82) ,p > 0.05 was not significant and worry t(2.52) significant at p> 0.05 was significant. It reveals low comfort and high worry . In Result Students reported significantly less worry and more comfort at the end of the posting when compared with that at the beginning of the posting. During the posting students were exposed with interventional strategies one week of pediatric procedure demonstrations and return demonstrations,OSCE and clinical performance booket provided as a guide to complete all the clinical requirements in the clinical area. Apart of this students were supervised , supported and guided by clinical mentors for paediatric patient care. These data suggest the significant need in identifying worries to improve confidence in performance for pediatric clinical learning enviorment.
