Title : Proven ways to handle stress in times of high demand

1) Discuss recent studies about the growing stress, pressures, and burnout that threaten the wellbeing of
nurses. 2)Identify challenges and concerns with this trend vs increased demand. 3)Teach little known ways to
cope with this growing stress and pressure.
? Explain how the audience will be able to use what they learn?

resources, etc) in addition to the typical challenges that they were required to surmount (shortages,
lack of representation related to decisions, etc). There are also unique stressors that are unique to this
specialty of nurses being the backbone of the healthcare system by and large. This presentation will
discuss results of new studies on nursing stress and burnout, the unique challenges they need to be
prepared for, and little known fundamentals on how to navigate these stressors/issues effectively.
? How will this help the audience in their job? Is this research that other faculty could use to expand their
research or teaching? Does this provide a practical solution to a problem that could simplify or make a
designer’s job more efficient? Will it improve the accuracy of a design, or provide new information to assist
in a design problem? List all other benefits.
The demand placed on nurses continues to grow and evolve and while exciting, growth can be
uncomfortable. By equipping nurses with the information they need to be prepared to handle the
demands of their jobs, effective ways for handling stress must be integrated. This presentation will
address the pressures and trends, but most importantly address strategies that have been proven to
combat stress and allow radiology and imaging nurses to perform optimally while maintaining their
