Title : The power of nursing leadership

Nursing leadership can be a challenge in the fast paced world of transitioning the proficient novice nurse to the leadership position.  Many times the proficient novice nurse is effective and efficient at clinically stabilizing the patient, however, it should not be assumed that they have the skills to be an effective leader. Leading the team requires a completely different skill set that is essential in the retention of nurses, the financial stability of the organization and the safety of their patient population. The Seven Leadership Rules to Ensure Success in Nursing Leadership provides clinicians with the essential keys to ensure success for everyone involved from the patient to the organization.  Quality care is maintained and the organization has the ability to maintain financial stability. The effective nurse leader is able to guide the patient care team to quality care that serves the purpose of providing safe, effective management of the patient while growing the team at the same time creating an innovative, progressive and collaborative culture.
