Title : The use of loom technology for improvement of student engagement
Abstract:
Student engagement is critical for ensuring students meet course and program outcomes. Online learning can be isolating to students and attrition can suffer as a result (Karaksha, et al., 2013). Engagement from faculty improves engagement of students (Serembus & Riccio, 2019). Online education continues to have deficits in student engagement and the use of ©2020, Loom, Inc technology is a solution. The ©2020, Loom, Inc technology allows screen sharing along with audio and visual feedback for assignments submitted from students. In nursing, clinical competence is a key indicator in success along with the ability to correlate didactic information in the clinical setting. The use of ©2020, Loom, Inc technology can be utilized for feedback to students on weekly discussion boards or assignments within a course. The ©2020, Loom, Inc technology can be used for more interactive and engaging feedback to students within an online platform in comparison to written feedback. In the future, the thought is to compare student engagement perception of the feedback with loom technology compared to those who have had traditional feedback without the use of ©2020, Loom, Inc technology.
