Title : Nursing care in the group applied to students of public educational institutions of Palmira, Colombia

Abstract:

Introduction: The goal of health promotion is to make people aware and acquire the most important elements for disease prevention, health restoration, and the adoption of healthy lifestyles to reduce the likelihood of illness. This is achieved through health education, as it is considered the most suitable route to achieve human and sustainable development by fostering the improvement of skills and abilities to understand and transform one's own well- being and that of others. The World Health Organization (WHO) considers it the process that positively influences the knowledge, practices, and customs of individuals and communities regarding health.

Objective: To apply collective nursing care to students of public educational institutions in Palmira during the 2023-A period.

Methodology: This was a successful practice experience conducted in two public educational institutions in Palmira, Valle del Cauca. The population consisted of primary and secondary school students. Educational interventions were carried out using the OCARET educational tool. The topics addressed were defined through the identification of risk factors found via a characterization survey and field observation.

Results: Some risk factors found in the student population included risk of abandonment, violence and family problems, difficulties in appropriate conflict resolution, and risk of suffering some type of physical or mental health alteration.

Conclusions: Health interventions using the OCARET educational tool facilitate the development of topics and activities to be carried out with students for better organization. Educational activities have a favorable impact, their importance is highlighted, but continuity of the process at the institutional, community, and family levels is required.
