Title : The Creation and Maintenance of Centralized Nursing Programs to Maximize Patient Care

Abstract:

The presentation will take nurses on a developmental journey from idea to implementation and expansion of registered nurse protocol-based clinical programs. Presenter will discuss lessons learned, needs and potential challenges in developing and maintaining centralized nursing programs. After high-level overviews, the presenter will guide the audience through interactive steps to develop a nursing program, walking through the steps, considerations and milestones.

Biography:

Erica Colvin obtained her Emergency Medical Technician in 2003. Working in a level one trauma center she earned her RN in 2008. She was an Urgent Care nursing supervisor, then increased her scope to an organizational supervisor of nursing programs where she developed and implemented two centralized programs. With a Master’s degree in Nursing and as Manager of Operations, Nursing programs and nurse informatics she has developed and implemented three additional nursing programs. Erica has received the Thomas V. Sedlacek award for best clinical abstract in 2018 and is currently working on her first article for publication.
