A commitment to nursing excellence

Speaker at Nursing Conference - Barbara M De Groot
Heartwell Services, United States
Title : A commitment to nursing excellence

Abstract:

While compassion has long defined nursing, today’s nurses encounter increasingly complex clinical and ethical challenges. For the past 25 years, the Gallup Honesty and Ethics Poll has recognized nursing as America’s most trusted profession. This distinction underscores the vital role nurses play in healthcare and the strong relationships they build with patients. Trust is essential to effective care and has a significant impact on patient outcomes. Nursing excellence encompasses more than clinical competence; it also includes shared decision-making, leadership, safety, quality, professional development, and continuous improvement. These elements all contribute to better patient outcomes and higher care quality. The key question is how nurses can assist in transforming organizational cultures to promote nursing excellence.
