Speaker at Nursing Conferences - Rebecca Lagger Dyar
Lilac Center, United States
Title : BPD, DBT, and the NP: Integrating dialectical behavioral therapy into evaluation and management appointments

Abstract:

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is the primary care modality for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) patients and has been shown to improve symptoms of emotional dysregulation. But BPD patients are not the only patients that can benefit from DBT skills, many patients with a variety of diagnoses can benefit from learning coping skills, emotional regulation, and mindfulness. DBT skills can easily be integrated into evaluation and management (E/M) appointments. DBT skills gives patients positive coping mechanisms that aid in lessening intense emotions during times of emotional distress and ultimately can lead improvement of their overall mental wellness. During this presentation you will learn ways to integrate DBT skills into E/M appointments with a variety of patients.
