Title : Case of the patient who underwent total knee replacement with eras guidelines
Abstract:
Background: Unable to repair joint damage caused by forces brought on by any abnormalities of the joint or peri-articular tissue is known as osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis affects the entire joint, and fundamentally loss of cartilage. Osteoarthritis in the knee can cause pain, stiffness, decreased joint range of motion, and muscular weakness. Older age, female sex, being overweight or obese, knee injuries, occupational characteristics (such as heavy lifting, squatting, and knee bending), and varus or valgus alignment have all been linked to an increased incidence of knee osteoarthritis. Based on the ERAS protocol, the patient should be discharged within 3-4 days. However, we herein present the patient with TKR who developed Atrial Fibrillation, which was newly diagnosed.
Case Presentation: This 59-year-old gentleman presented with right knee Osteoarthritis (Valgus) and a known case of HTN with medication; nevertheless, with a history of successful left knee TKR on 15/04/2025 developed sudden onset Atrial Fibrillation on his first post-operative day. After treatments, he remained free of symptoms.
Conclusion: This case appears as the first case report with Atrial Fibrillation on post-operative TKR cases who underwent the ERAS guidelines, highlighting the importance of total screening patient with comorbidities.
