Abstract:

Abstract: Objective To analyze and clarify the concept and connotation of caring ability of family caregivers of patients with mental disorders.

Methods: PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Science Direct, CNKI, VIP, Wanfang and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database were systematically searched for literatures on caring ability of family caregivers of patients with mental disorders. The search time limit was from the establishment of the database to July 2025. Rodgers' evolutionary method for concept analysis was used to analyze the literature.

Results: Caring ability of family caregivers of patients with mental disorders included five conceptual attributes: Knowledge, skills, self-efficacy, stigma management, and problem-solving. The antecedent factors include patient factors, caregiver factors and Social Support. Post-impact includes the impact on patients and the impact on caregivers.

Conclusions: This study clarified the conceptual attributes of caring ability of family caregivers of patients with mental disorders through concept analysis. In the future, researchers should combine the connotation of caring ability of family caregivers of patients with mental disorders, develop localized assessment tools for caring ability of family caregivers of patients with mental disorders, and construct targeted intervention programs, so as to improve the quality of nursing staff and enhancing the care experience of patients with mental disorders.
