Abstract:

Nursing Care is the method that guides the professional, scientific, systematic, and humanistic work of nursing practice, focused on simultaneously evaluating the progress and changes in improving the well-being of the individual, family, and/or community through the care provided by nursing staff. It is worth noting that our country has implemented improvements in the healthcare field, such as the creation of the Office of the Patient Advocate (ODEPAC). Although our country has three levels of healthcare—health posts, clinics, and hospitals, some of which are elite and wellequipped—the care of bedridden patients remains a significant challenge. To improve the satisfaction of bedridden patients, their families, and the community, we conducted an exploratory, observational, cross-sectional study in the Surgery Department of the Bata University General Hospital from April to May 2025, with the objective of evaluating the provision of nursing care to bedridden patients. To obtain the results of our study, we proposed the following objectives: General Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the level of compliance with nursing care for bedridden patients in the Surgery Department of Bata General Hospital during the study period. Specific objectives included: first, to determine the level of compliance with nursing care regarding postural changes for bedridden patients in the Surgery Department during the study period; and second, to determine the level of compliance with nursing care regarding hygiene for bedridden patients in the Surgery Department during the study period. The study population consisted of 66 nurses in the Surgery Department of Bata General University Hospital during the study period. The sample comprised 25 nurses. The unit of analysis consisted of all nurses, categorized by professional level, during the study period. All nurses present during the study were included, while those absent were excluded. A data collection form was designed using Microsoft Word 2010. The service employs more women than men, with ages ranging from 29 to 57 years, and the majority of staff were nursing assistants.

Biography:

Fabricio Óscar Nguema Beka Ayang was born in Bata, Equatorial Guinea, on March 9, 1996. He completed his primary education from 2002 to 2011 at La Resurreción de Bata. He completed his secondary and high school studies from 2011 to 2018, and his university studies at the National University of Equatorial Guinea (Faculty of Health Sciences). He had the opportunity to participate in various training programs, such as a pharmacological update offered jointly by the National University of Equatorial Guinea and the University of Valencia, taught by Dr. Juan Espúguez Mota, a professor at the University of Valencia. He currently works as an intern in the Intensive Care Unit of the University Hospital of Bata. MSc. Marisol Rodríguez Lazo. Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Assistant Professor.
