Title : Nursing intervention for the prevention of burnout syndrome in caregivers of home care patients
Abstract:
Burnout syndrome among caregivers of home-care patients represents a growing problem that affects both the caregiver's mental health and the quality of care provided. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a nursing intervention focused on preventing burnout in informal caregivers. An intervention was developed based on education, emotional support, and self-care strategies, including stress management techniques, guidance on patient care, and the strengthening of support networks. The study population consisted of caregivers of home-based patients with chronic illnesses. The results demonstrate a significant reduction in levels of emotional exhaustion and perceived stress, as well as an improvement in the caregivers' quality of life following the intervention. Additionally, a positive impact was observed regarding adherence to care recommendations and the caregiver-patient relationship. It is concluded that nursing interventions play a fundamental role in preventing burnout syndrome, highlighting the importance of integrating caregiver support programs into home care services. These strategies contribute not only to the caregiver's well-being but also to the quality and continuity of patient care.
