Background and Significance: Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the United States. Timely, coordinated, and evidence?based care is critical to improving survival rates and long?term outcomes. Recognizing the growing need for standardized, high?reliability cardiovascular emergency care, our organization embarked on a transformative journey to elevate AMI care through the pursuit of Comprehensive Heart Attack Center certification. This designation represents the highest level of capability for managing the full spectrum of AMI cases, including complex and high?risk presentations, and serves as a benchmark for excellence in cardiovascular systems of care.The objective of this program was to elevate cardiovascular care quality, streamline AMI treatment pathways, and achieve statewide distinction as Florida’s first and only Comprehensive Heart Attack Center. The program sought to ensure rapid, reliable, and evidence?based care across the continuum from EMS activation to post?event follow?up while demonstrating measurable improvements in patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

- Creation of a multidisciplinary AMI improvement committee, led jointly by the medical director and cardiac program nurse manager, to drive coordinated, system wide change.

Clinical practice variation decreased as standardized pathways improved adherence to evidence?based protocols. Data accuracy, abstraction quality, and reporting timeliness improved markedly, supporting the successful achievement of Florida’s first and only Comprehensive Heart Attack Center certification.
