Abstract:

A quality improvement initiative standardized Nursing Clinical Orientation (NCO) across a multi-campus health system using ADDIE and PDSA methodologies. Seven campus-specific programs were merged into a single, unified model that improved efficiency, engagement, and collaboration between Nursing Education and interdepartmental partners. The redesign reallocated 8.0 FTEs to clinical education, reduced cognitive overload, and enhanced learner satisfaction. New-hire engagement rose by 17% within one quarter, confirming that standardized, evidence-based onboarding promotes retention and consistent nursing excellence.

Nora Billodeaux, DNP, MSN, RN, NPD-BC is a nurse leader, educator, and author with over a decade of experience in clinical practice, nursing education, and professional development. She serves as an Education Specialist II with Methodist Health System, leading system-wide nursing education and orientation initiatives. A former Nurse Manager and Adjunct Clinical Instructor, she is passionate about mentoring nurses and advancing evidence-based practice. Dr. Billodeaux is a 2022 D Magazine Excellence in Nursing Award recipient and has presented at multiple nursing conferences, contributing scholarly work focused on nursing leadership and professional development.
