Title : Pathway for the prevention of bacteremia associated with Central Venous access Catheter(CVC): Results of a successful experience
Abstract:
This presentation describes an evidence-based, multimodal intervention strategy to reduce Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs). 4,590 observations were conducted in high-dependency units. Improvements were observed in critical factors: non-compliance with wound care decreased from 27% to 0.67%, and device appropriateness decreased from 12% to 2.38%, consistent with evidence reporting reductions of >50–60% through auditing and feedback. The HAIs rate decreased from 3.3 to 0.7 per 1,000 catheter-days, remaining <1.0 and aligned with CDC/NHSN standards.
