Title : Trauma recovery, resilience, and wellness for healthcare professionals
Abstract:
Trauma Recovery, Resilience, and Wellness for Healthcare Professionals provides specific, evidence-based strategies for nurses to recover and heal from the daily traumas they experience at work. It discuses the nature of their work traumas and how they can injure the brain causing significant psychological and emotional distress. Nurses are at a significant higher risk for suicide, depression, sleep and anxiety disorders than the general population. Nurses’ daily work traumas can also cause burnout, turnover, career loss, and unprofessional service. Without the understanding of trauma and specific ways to mitigate its toxic effects, nurses are vulnerable to become victims of their beloved profession. This presentation provides evidence-based strategies for nurses to strengthen resilience with every patient. It provides daily wellness strategies for them to strengthen physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. These wellness strategies enable nurses to recover and heal from trauma, enhance compassionate and selfless service, while enhancing peace and fulfillment.
