Title : Optimizing Postpartum Care in Family Practice
Abstract:
This DNP project aimed to enhance maternal outcomes by implementing the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Screening tool in a primary care clinic setting. The Edinburg postnatal depression screening tool is a widely recognized screening tool designed to identify postpartum depression symptoms in mothers. This project focused on integrating this screening tool seamlessly into the workflow of the primary care clinic and its providers. This involved training healthcare providers on administering the EPDS, educating staff about the importance of postnatal depression screening, and establishing protocols for follow-up and intervention for positive screening results. By implementing the EPDS in the primary care setting, the project sought to achieve several objectives including: early identification, improved maternal outcomes, integrated care, access to resources, and continuity of care. Overall, this DNP project aimed to make significant strides in improving maternal outcomes by implementing the EPDS. Through proactive screening, early intervention, and integrated care approaches, this DNP project enhanced maternal mental health throughout the postpartum period.
