Title : Application of immersive orthopedic surgery cooperation workshops in operating rooms
Abstract:
Purpose: This study delves into the practical application and significant importance of orthopedic surgery cooperation workshops in operating rooms. We elaborate on the establishment and implementation process of the workshops, covering various aspects such as the design of training content, the conduct of simulation drills, and the training of team collaboration skills. Through this series of systematic training and simulation drills, the project has not only significantly improved surgical efficiency and ensured patient safety but also greatly enhanced the professional skills of operating room nurses and effectively strengthened their team collaboration abilities. The core objective of the workshops is to improve the coordination abilities of operating room nurses in orthopedic surgeries, thereby ensuring smooth surgical procedures and providing patients with higher-quality and more efficient medical services.
Methods:
Training Content Design: The training content of the workshops primarily includes the use of surgical instruments, familiarity with surgical procedures, team collaboration techniques, and emergency response plan formulation. Through systematic theoretical learning, practical operations, and 3D-printed models, operating room nurses can fully grasp the key points of coordination in orthopedic surgeries.
Simulation Drills: Based on theoretical learning, the workshops organize simulation drills for operating room nurses. By simulating real surgical scenarios, operating room nurses can personally experience the entire process of surgical coordination, thereby identifying problems and improving deficiencies.
Team Collaboration Training: The workshops emphasize the training of team collaboration abilities. During simulation drills, operating room nurses need to closely coordinate and collaborate with each other to complete surgical tasks. Such training helps improve their team awareness and collaboration abilities.
Scores of newly-hired operating room nurses in 2022 and 2023 were compared using scales.
Results: Significant improvements were observed in the operating room nurses' scores for emergency response plans (P?0.05), professional skills (P?0.05), doctor satisfaction (P?0.05), and team collaboration abilities (P?0.05).
Conclusion:
Ensuring Patient Safety: The training provided by the workshops makes operating room nurses more familiar with surgical risks and emergency response plans, enabling them to promptly identify and handle various emergencies during surgeries and ensuring patients' lives are safe.
Enhancing Professional Skills of Operating Room Personnel: Through systematic theoretical learning and practical operations, the professional skills of operating room nurses have been significantly improved. They have not only mastered the basic skills of surgical coordination but also possess the ability to handle complex surgical situations.
Improving Doctor Satisfaction: After training in orthopedic surgery cooperation workshops, operating room nurses have a deeper understanding of surgical procedures and instrument use, allowing them to operate more proficiently during surgeries and increasing doctor satisfaction.
Strengthening Team Collaboration Abilities: The team collaboration training in the workshops has made operating room nurses more attuned to each other, forming a closer teamwork relationship. Such a team can better leverage their individual strengths during surgeries and collectively address various challenges.
