Geriatric nurse tends to understand and treat the often physical and mental health needs of older people. They protect their patient health and come up with changes in their mental and physical abilities, to make old people stay independent and active as long as possible. Geriatric nurses support health improvement in older people by preventing and treating disease and disability that occurs with ageing. It involves serving to older adults at their home, hospital or special institutions like the nursing home, psychiatric institution etc.
