Title : Effectiveness of one-day scenario based neonatal resuscitation program on knowledge regarding newborn resuscitation among health care professionals, Haryana, India
Abstract:
Background: One quarter of neonatal deaths occur due to asphyxia. Approximately 10% of the newborns need help to breathe in the form of resuscitation. Studies have shown that effective newborn resuscitation provided by health care professionals who have adequate knowledge and skills can remarkably reduce neonatal mortality rates.
Aim: To assess the effectiveness of one- day Scenario based Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) on knowledge regarding newborn resuscitation among health care professionals at National Reference Simulation Centre, SGT University, Gurugram, Haryana, India.
Methodology: Pre-Experimental research design was used. Purposive sampling technique was used and data collection was done by using a knowledge questionnaire on 75 health care professionals.
Results: The mean pre-test knowledge score was 7.5 ± 2.6. The mean post-test knowledge score was 13.5 ± 3.2. There was a significant association between age and educational qualification with post-test knowledge score at 0.05 level of significance. Conclusion: The one-day Scenario based Neonatal resuscitation program (NRP) program was found effective in increasing the knowledge regarding newborn resuscitation among health care professionals.
