Title : Exploring the ideas of undergraduate nursing students on carrying out specialized nursing education during internship based on group interview method
Abstract:
Objective: To understand the thoughts of undergraduate nursing students on carrying out specialized nursing education during the internship stage, and to provide a basis for hospital and colleges to formulate a feasible and acceptable learning plan for nursing education and management.
Method: Using focus group interview, 14 undergraduate nursing students from a tertiary hospital in China were selected for semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed, summarized, and themed using the Colaizzi seven step analysis method.
Result: Four themes were extracted from undergraduate nursing students' thoughts on carrying out specialized nursing education, including their understanding of specialized nursing and specialized nurses, their understanding of carrying out specialized nursing education during the internship stage, their needs for specialized nursing education during internship, and their career expectations.
Conclusion: Hospitals can strengthen their collaboration with schools and form various forms of learning, internship, assessment, and evaluation plans based on the needs of nursing students, in order to improve the quality of professional training for nursing students.
